Sunday I finally got myself a mountain bike. What is that? I have no idea, I’m still learning myself and at the moment I don’t plan on riding on any mountains. But it was encouraged by “DC”over a beach cruiser. I almost had a nervous breakdown trying to decide what type of bike I both wanted and needed but after talking to him I had a better idea of what was more practical for me at the moment. Getting my bike home was a little hectic but my bigger complaint is help was forced on me and then I ended up sitting around missing football on Sunday for almost four hours. I ended up telling the help nevermind and did it myself.
I didn’t get to ride it the day I got it so all day at work all I hoped is that five o’clock would come and I could get to my new toy, Karmen. Yes I named my bike. Finally after I got off from work I was ready to take her for a ride. It wasn’t until I actually started riding it that I realized I should probably read up on how to operate these things. All these years I thought the only thing to riding a bike was pedaling. This bike has gears and I have no idea how and when to change them, I’ll be googling lots of bike riding related topics for the next couple of months or at least until I get it down packed.
Last night I attempted to get to a bike store but after I rode 6 blocks out of the way by the time I got there they were closed but I was impressed by the bike services they offer, until 6pm of course. My goal was to get one of those flickering lights but since they were closed I headed to the grocery store. After about an hour my buns were starting to hurt. I do blame some of that on me failing at the beginning of the ride to lift my tush off the seat when I hit bumps. Ouch.
This morning I headed out to work for the first time on my bike, I got to the parking lot across the street and realized my buns were still extremely sore from the ride before and I had 1.2 miles to go. I got to work 11 minutes late and sweating. I was not happy but I was full of energy and ready to start my work day and luckily I wasn’t surprised by any walk-ins in my ever so casual gear. I’m going to have to think of a method because I feel like I was too casual for a Tuesday in Hilfiger slides and slacks. After work, I headed out again taking the quickest route home for the sake of my cakes that were STILL extremely sore, passing the bicycle shop and totally forgetting to swing by AT&T to pay my bill. According to “DC” the soreness should go away within a few days but WHEN?!?!
Go
I’m so stoked about you getting a bike that I’m gonna start shopping around. I’ve been wanting one for years but always seem to find something else to spend my money on. Bike riding is a great source for exercise and just down right fun in my opinion. My suggestion for the tushy pain is to get a better seat. They install the most generic seats on bikes, you need one to fit your “ass”prin box! What bike did you get and what was the cost?
I know you didn’t mean this to be funny, but I laughed aloud where you spoke of not knowing the gears.
I bought a mountain bike this past spring – rode it about three times, then I let a younger relative borrow the bike for a weekend and hadn’t seen it since. Thanks for reminding me.
Hilarious @ sore buns.
Girl we are so cyber-sisters, lol. I have been comtemplating a bike for years. Now that I am moving to the same city as my job, riding to work is quite an option. Gotta get my buns in gear tho. Happy Trails!
My buns are finally getting use to the seat but I still want a more comfy one. This bike riding is just all too fun.
